Albuquerque Poker Rooms

The famous Nat King Cole song "Route 66" doesn't mention Albuquerque, but everything here is themed "66". On Hwy 40 going west to L.A. you can't miss Route 66 Casino. There are several other casinos in the area. The best source for daily tournaments is ThePokerAtlas.com

On my trip west I made a stop to play the Heartland Poker Tour at Route 66 Casino.  It was disappointing to find just one cash game table and it was $2-6 spread game. On weekends they may have no limit games when many truck drivers stop, and try to have some fun. Cash game is nothing better at Hard Rock. Casino where they play the same 2-6 spread game. At Route 66 the have many interesting daily promotions like "Aces cracked" where they pay you the size of a pot if your pocket aces lose.

The best cash game I found at Sandia Casino. It was Thursday, about 10 PM and there were nine full tables. I asked about No Limit game and they offered $1-2, $2-5 or $5-10. I got a seat at $1-2 game and heard that previous Tuesday someone from L.A. made over $100K in hot $10-20 NL game. Wow, this is the place where you want to play when in Albuquerque. Also, regularly they have limit games up to $20-40.

Rake in the game is 10% up to $3 plus $1 for the bad beat jackpot. I played for about two hours and I was lucky to double up in my first hand holding KK. Later, picked up a couple more pots for a total of $540. I'm definetly goin g back to Sandia.

2012 The Year Of A Dragon

Mr. Wegas was born in a year of a dragon, so I expect 2012 to be good in every way (including poker.)

Many people must be eager to know if they will have better luck in the coming year than previous years. Here, we want to use Chinese Astrology Five Elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth) theory to explain people's fortune in 2012 and foresee what will be happening to them in the year of the Dragon.

2012 is Year of the Dragon and it will arrived on February 4, 2012. (Note: Chinese New Year Day is on January 23, 2012. The first day of 2012 Chinese Astrology Year is on February 4, 2012.)    According to Chinese Five Element Astrology Calendar, 2012 is the Year of Water Dragon Female Water. The color of Water in Five Elements system is related to Black. Therefore we can say 2012 is a Black Dragon, Water Dragon or Black Water Dragon year.

Chinese Astrology is a Balance Theory of Five Elements. Each animal can be converted into Five Elements. Dragon contains Earth, Water and Wood. It's a source of Water and It is also called the Water Dam in Chinese astrology. Since Water of 2012 comes with Dragon. it implied Water from the sky makes a dam overflow. Therefore 2012 is a strong Water year.
Dragon is a legendary animal and it is symbol of emperor in China. Since the Dragon is coated with mysterious color, Chinese consider that the dragon is unpredictable, untouchable and people cannot see its head and tail at the same time. Therefore, we can might see something unexpected happening in 2012. Also a person with too many dragons in the Chinese astrology birth chart will become smarter, sly and unpredictable in the coming year.

2010 was the Year of White Tiger and is the beginning year of the Wood cycle. 2011 was the Year of White Rabbit and is the middle year of the Wood cycle. The Dragon of 2012 is the last year of the Wood cycle. Dragon is the transition year to the Fire Cycle. The energy of Wood is in the East side. The energy of Fire is in the South side. We never know what will happen when turning from East to South. That's another sign of unpredictable Dragon year. You can have either good luck or bad luck in 2012, and will have a chance to turn it into better or worse luck.

Before predicting your luck in 2012, you have to know what Type of Element you are and what your Lucky Element is from your astrology birth chart. The Lucky Element is the major factor to determine people's fortune. 2012 is the Year of Black Water Dragon, which contains Earth, Water and Wood. If your Lucky Element is Earth, Water or Wood, then 2012 will bring you some degree of luck. Since 2012 is Water Dragon, people whose lucky element is Water will benefit more in 2012. Fire is the opposite element of Water. People whose lucky element is Fire will have more impact in 2012.

For more details and an accurate prediction, the first step to knowing your fortune is know what animals are in your birth chart. You can find that information from the Chinese Astrology Lucky Element page using your birthday and birth time.

Chinese Astrology is a sixty-year cycle that combines the energy of five elements and twelve animal signs. This system is tied to the Lunar calendar. 2012 is called the Year of the Water Dragon. It begins January 23, 2012 and ends February 9, 2013.

Dragons are powerful and magical creatures. Dragon years are times of destiny and decision. The beneficial influence of Water encourages cooperation, sensitivity to others, and mutual understanding in pursuit of important goals. Water Dragon requires tough choices and a willingness to surrender what is no longer necessary. Although this may seem daunting, the proper use of Dragon energy attracts good fortune.

The Year of the Water Dragon is a leap year, or longer than average. This makes it an especially lucky year to marry. If you have been waiting to take a relationship to a deeper level, it's an auspicious time to make the leap!

Dragons go where others fear to tread. You can cope with stress and face challenges with a more hopeful attitude. It will be easier to do what is necessary to make progress toward specific goals. Dragon encourages patience and perseverance.

But building a foundation for the future takes time. Between February and April, work to resolve anything that creates disharmony in the family or community. In July the energy begins to shift. Many will face unexpected and challenging choices.

August and September brings transforming events (possibly connected with finance, war, or weather) that may grab the world's attention. Water Dragon encourages a courageous and even relaxed attitude. There is nothing coming that you will not find a way through.

Each animal sign is ruled by one Fixed Element: Metal, Water, Wood, or Fire. To make the best of Water Dragon energy, find your sign's Fixed Element below.

Metal
If ruled by Metal (Rooster, Monkey, Dog), better communication and sensitivity toward others will support your need to get things done. You will find it easier to be empathetic to the feelings and needs of others. Teamwork is easy and supports your best interests.

Water
Those of you ruled by Water (Pig, Rat, Ox) are in your element! In a time when others are struggling you can be a pillar of wisdom and encouragement. Your ability to sense when to speak or act will help you take the lead. You can spot opportunities others might miss.

Wood
Those ruled by Wood (Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon) will be powerfully energized. It's time for action guided by intuition. Friendly optimism and good humor support your community and family in important ways. You'll discover resources where others see dead ends. Dragons in particular will attract achievement and recognition.

Fire
For those ruled by Fire (Snake, Horse, Goat) can be extremely persuasive in any area of interest. Sharing your dreams will help others move in similar directions. While Dragon encourages good communication, Water leads you to go with the flow more than you should. This is no time to sit back and allow others to save the day.
